STUDENT MINISTRY LEADER (PART-TIME) JOB DESCRIPTION

3-4 HOURS/PER WEEK

MINISTRY PURPOSE AND PRINCIPLE FUNCTION 

The Student Ministry Leader is a part-time ministry staff associate whose primary purpose and function is to develop and provide spiritual, relational, and organizational leadership and ministry to the Converge Life Church Student Ministry. Ministry leadership includes: the once a month on campus meet program for Students, Sunday two Wednesday night activities, and other special programming such as, Christmas programs, camps, mission projects, and other special events.

The Student Ministry Leader shall seek to build a strong, growing ministry that: 

1. Introduces students to Christ, makes disciples, and facilitates and nurtures growth in Christian faith. These are accomplished through disciple-making, Bible study, prayer, fellowship, worship, mission service, and evangelism; 

2. Strives to build Christ-like relationships with parents, youth, and church leaders that strengthens their commitment to growth in faith in Jesus Christ; and 

3. Best utilizes all of the resources available.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following are specific duties and responsibilities of Student Ministry Leader: 

1. Serves out of a strong sense of Christian calling and passion to serve youth and exhibits a strong identity in Christ coupled with the willingness to continue to grow and mature in Christ as a godly person of integrity. 

2. Coordinates, promotes, implements, and further develops a quality spiritual education for Youth, which would include Sunday and Wednesday night activities, missions, and other seasonal special events. 

3. Works with parents and other leaders to facilitate the spiritual and social development of youth by instructing and training them to become disciple-makers. 

4. Provides students with a safe and spiritually based place to belong that gives them the courage to be unique in their social, emotional, and spiritual character and interests. 

5. Pursues an individual relationship with all boys and girls of the group—one that is characterized by encouragement and support, safety and security, and one which nurtures and seeks to interact and connect with all students. 

6. Develops positive relationships with parents of youth. 

7. Submits an annual basic Ministry Action Plan to the Lead Pastors which outlines a strategic plan to disciple the youth (e.g., teaching, proclamation, small groups, and one-ones). 

8. Provides leadership that is in line with the overall vision, purpose and mission of our church and follows the Lead Pastors’ vision of leadership. 

9. Communicates and publishes all activities through social media, newsletters, bulletins, and the church calendar as needed. 

10. Attends all necessary staff meetings and any ministry related team meetings (e.g Dream Team Meets, Staff zoom meets and etc.). 

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS EXPECTED The Youth Leader plays a vital role in the faith development of youth within the church, both as a leader and as a role model. Converge seeks a person who has a solid understanding of the foundations of Christian faith and who has a strong desire to lead and disciple youth in the Christian faith. 

The following qualifications are required: 

1. A vital relationship with Jesus Christ, spiritual maturity, and high moral and ethical conduct. 

2. A visible sense of call and a passion for working with youth and other youth team members. 

3. An observable ability to lead and inspire using positive godly principles and techniques. 

4. Friendly, enthusiastic, flexible, and adept at using a team approach while working with youth, parents, and fellow staff members.

5. Good organizational, teaching, administration and computer/technology skills.

6. Ability to recruit, train, organize and motivate volunteers for youth ministries. 

7. Spiritual gifts including but not limited to leadership, administration, and teaching. 

8. A strong people person who finds it easy to connect with and maintain relationships with all families of the church. 

9. If married, evidence that their spouse is equally committed to work alongside of them to partner in ministry.
